In the studio this week
YOUR WEEKLY ROUNDUP
Hello from Jenny Davis,
Hope you are all enjoying the brighter daylight now Spring has sprung in the southern hemisphere. In between time in the garden and propagating cutting, I've been pottering around in the studio, doing a bit of tidying up and reflecting on the creative process. To me, art is not just about the practical part of making it, but also the time spent on developing the idea and exploring different techniques. I'm excited about a few upcoming projects and can't wait to see where they take me. For me, the beauty of painting lies in its ability to capture emotions and inspire others.
Are your older unsold artworks worth less than your newer art ?
As an artist, I constantly challenge the notion of value and the perception of worth in the art world. Are older unsold artworks truly worth less than newer pieces? In my opinion, it is not about the monetary value but rather the unique journey and evolution of an artist reflected in their earlier works.
For me, each artwork is a continuation of my creative journey, with every stroke and color representing a different chapter in my artistic development. I believe that older works hold a special significance, as they serve as a tangible reminder of an artist’s growth and artistic process.
In the Studio…
With one sweep of a brush stroke I follow the drip that flows down from the canvas onto the floor ....it runs across the floor reminding me the floor in the studio I built years ago, is not level.
