Sunday Funday

Hello from the Studio!

**"Nature does not hurry, yet everything is accomplished." – Lao Tzu**

As we settle into another Sunday, I find myself reflecting on how swiftly this year seems to be unfolding. Perhaps it's just me, but I sometimes wish time would slow down. As I age, I resonate more and more with the saying, "What has gone before is in the past, and today is all we have." It serves as a gentle reminder to cherish each moment we have right now.

Ironically, I make my art by exploring the past. From a young age, I’ve had an affinity for relics and stories from yesteryears. I was that curious child who loved to take things apart, only to create something new and unique from their remnants. Even today, my work revolves around those older elements, transforming them into contemporary artworks that speak to the now.

Lately, it has become essential for me to slow down, to breathe, and to listen to the rhythm of my creative process. Working with textiles has been a source of solace. The calming act of stitching and the soothing sound of tearing old cloth is peaceful. I know when I'm in that relaxed mode when I start humming songs just like my mother used too. A sweet comfort that still lingers in my heart.

Thoughts and Ideas for this Year

This year, my thoughts are leaning towards installation, sculpture and painting work, harnessing the mounds of old textiles and cherished items I’ve collected and inherited over the years. I find myself inspired by the innocence of my childhood explorations: hand stitching, staining, pulling apart, hammering and remaking. Each layer and each piece carries not just history, but a connection to those gone before and gets the very essence of who I am. I truly believe that everything in life is intertwined. The cyclical nature of our experiences has a way of bringing us back to our beginnings, inviting us to celebrate our journeys anew.

Finally during this week it was all about letting go and allowing my intuition guide every mark or stroke. Each mark tells a story. The beauty of spontaneity . Pure creative freedom!
I hope you all had a great Sunday

Take care
